ART PAYS HOMAGE TO OUR BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT
FRANCES LUKE with her painting
An exhibition of works that value our beautiful environment is on display at Gallery Bodalla.
In Gallery 1 'Homage to Mossy', recent paintings and etchings by Frances Luke, pay tribute to the beauty and majesty of the rocks at Mossy Point.
Frances Luke moved from Brisbane to Mossy Point 4 years ago and said 'These works have developed through my relationship with the honeycombed headlands and the sea since I have lived at Mossy. They are the closest thing to a cathedral or sanctuary for me. They have evoked medieval images that I realize relate back to the years I spent in Italy'.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Frances has worked and exhibited in Japan, Italy, Quebec to Bulgaria, and Australia wide.
She is an intuitive artist with an acute awareness of the details we sometimes overlook. These details weave a hint of a story into each of her works and reveal the inspiration she gains from the environment', Gallery Bodalla director Valerie Faber said.
Joining the show in Gallery 2 is Hungarian born Bela Ivanyi with mounted works on paper from central Australia and seascapes. Bela's beautiful expressive paintings are a product of his passionate nature and love of the Australian landscape.
Bela Ivanyi has been teaching and painting for 40 years with over 20 one man shows. His work is in many collections including the Australian National Gallery. From the vibrant colours around Alice Springs through to the cool, moody seas of the east coast, Bela works spontaneously with a wonderful understanding of shape and light.
