Batemans Bay Thai Restaurant

With such an unassuming name, you'd be forgiven for under-estimating the standard of cuisine at this recent addition to the South Coast restaurant scene.

In the last few weeks, we've ordered take-away Thai, had an a-la-carte Thai meal followed by another takeaway, and on each occassion we've been blown away by the standard of the offering and the service.

When we dined in, as a group of 2 couples, the consensus was that the barometer of a Thai restaurant is the quality of their 'Money Bags'. So we decided to apply the test, by ordering a round of this traditional entree all round. The Bay Thai restaurant leaped over this hurdle with ease and then followed up with a sensational offering of Thai Calamari, Sang Choi Bow (my personal favourite) and Green Curry with Prawns.

Our group included some very travelled people who've sampled Asian food in many cities around the world yet the accolades for this experience were flowing.

If the Bay Thai restaurant can mantain the standards they've set in their opening few weeks, then they will have raised the bar on the South Coast eateries scene for others to aim for.

Furthermore, the value for money was excellent with an average price of $20 each for takeaway and $30 each for dine-in meals.
