Bilyara Gallery and Cafe, Sapphire Coast Drive
by Carolyn & Peter Hughes
Bilyara Gallery & Cafe is a 'must do' for art lovers visiting the South Coast of NSW.
Bilyara exhibits a comprehensive sample of quality Australian arts and crafts. Paintings by both local and interstate artists utilising oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolours and etchings. Australian landscapes and seascapes are well represented in the collections, but there's a wide variety of semi-abstract and more contemporary paintings. Crafts include:
glass; bronze, pottery; jewellery; wood; pewter and stained glass figurines.
Bilyara is listed as a "gallery of excellence" by the NSW Regional Galleries Association.
Located within 3 hours drive time of Canberra and an easy day's drive south of Sydney in between the coastal towns of Bega, Tathra and Merimbula, the gallery is surrounded by natural Australian forest. The Bilyara Gallery is almost adjacent to the Bournda Nature Reserve, Wallagoot Lake, just 1 kilometre or half a mile off Sapphire Coast Drive, which is an alternate route to the Princes Highway, alongside a number of beautiful beaches, betwwen Bermagui and Merimbula.
outstanding amongst South Coast galleries, and really is top drawer quality..."
Carolyn & Peter Hughes, Canberra.
The combination of unusual architectural design of the well lit gallery space, the quality of the artworks themselves, combined with relaxing music, the aroma freshly baked cakes and of brewing coffee makes this 'must do' destination for the serious art lover, or a really worthwhile place to stop off if you're on the Sydney to Melbourne Coastal drive. Open 10am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday and Public Holidays.
