(Cobargo)
Cobala Workshop Gallery is located on the main street of Cobargo between Cafe 59 and The Train Cafe The building is known as the 'Old Grain Store', c.1890. The original ironbark wood floor slopes down toward the door and the story goes that the sloping floor allowed ease of movement and clean up for heavy grain sacks.
Cobala Workshop Gallery is about CREATIVE FURNITURE and ART. Its purpose is to be always interesting and a relief from the mainstream. Peter and Suzanne enjoy being innovative and like to inspire and encourage others to find that place within them that allows the experience of innovation to happen, no matter what form it takes.
Our furniture is handcrafted with attention to detail using good joinery skills allowing strength and give in each piece. Timber is alive and constantly moves in response changing humidity . With our tables we use traditional wooden clips joining the top to the rails. This allows the top and base structure to move at different rates and avoid splitting. The rails are mortised into the legs for maximum strength.
We use the finest timbers when making our tables to give the best results. Timbers like precious Australian Red Cedar, Red Gum, Jarrah, Stringy Bark, Recycled Kauri and Cedar as well as recycled, Industrial timber and many others. We accept and foster commissioned pieces whether conservative or completely artistic. Peter can design and craft your high quality and individual piece to your specifications. He has over 10 years experience in timber artistry.
