Montague Island Charters Whale watching

by Kathie Thackray
(Island Charters, Narooma)

We offer a range of trips. Light refreshments are provided. Just cold drinks and biscuits on 2 ½ hour trips. Muffins and hot drinks plus biscuits and cold drinks on 4 hour or longer trips. . We often have dolphins riding the bow wave and customers can stand or sit down the front to watch them play. We might see whales on route at this time of year. There are masses of birds sitting on eggs at Montague Island at the moment and in a week or so there will be thousands of baby birds! Unfortunately all trips are reliant on minimum numbers so it is always worth calling to see what we have already booked. Customers do always have the option of course of paying the extra to cover the minimum cost. If we then book more people we can give them a refund of any extra they paid.

A) 2 ½ hour trip including 1 hour lighthouse visit with a NPWS guide plus a visit to the fur seal colony. At present this is an afternoon trip leaving Narooma at 12.30pm and returning at 3.00pm. The cost is $95 per head.

B) 4 hour trip which includes a 2 ½ hour NPWS guided tour of the island and lighthouse plus a visit to the seal colony. This trip leaves the wharf at 9am and returns at 1pm. The cost is $105 per head.

C) 4 hour Eco Adventure which includes 1 hour lighthouse tour and birdlife viewing with NPWS guide, followed by a visit to the fur seal colonies with opportunity for interactive snorkelling fun plus 1 ½ hours of whale watching adventure and afternoon tea. Fins, goggles and snorkels and afternoon tea are provided. ( not wetsuits). This trip leaves at 12.30 and returns at 4.30pm. The ultimate wildlife experience! Seals, birds, whales, plus usually dolphins! The cost is $125 per head.

We also still offer all our other trips- reef fishing trips of varying lengths from 4 hour to full day, snorkelling with seals, scuba diving at any of the 12 or so sites we use at Montague or down to the shipwreck, plus wildlife cruises which may involve some light handline fishing or a quick snorkel or swim with the seals, and of course straight whale watching trips. If you like I can send you a price list of our basic trips.

Please call or email us if you have any questions. We can be far more flexible than the online website allows and try to cater for your particular interests or time changes.
