Moruya Jazz Festival, 2011
In October Jazz Devotees flocked from our region and beyond for the 2011 Moruya Jazz Festival. Dozens of artists worked closely with the Moruya Jazz Festival team to create a most exciting, refreshing and innovative celebration of Jazz in Moruya.
On October 21, Moruya burst with the sounds of jazz as the festival opened in the pubs, clubs and streets of Moruya. Jazz devotees don't just listen to the music, they dance, they sing and they mingle. While here, their enthusiasm and good spirits take them out into the community to savor the regions attractions, restaurants, shops, hotels, motels and other services.
Roger Bayley, president of the Jazz Festival said the festival has grown consistently every year since it started in 1997, and in light of the increasing demands of a rapidly growing festival and on the verge of celebrating its 15th anniversary, the team believe the Moruya Jazz Festival is well positioned to move forward with a significant redevelopment and expansion effort. The strength of the festival's success is that it is centred in and around the town, thus ensuring that much of the income generated remains in the town. Many stakeholders are involved in the service delivery whilst also being participants in the event itself.
Our community has been gifted with a diversity of creative influences, unique heritage aspects and truly interesting people and in 2011 the Moruya Jazz Festival is aiming for a parade that will outshine the old Moruya Mardi Gras and we invite community members and businesses from the Eurobodalla region to join our parade.
