The Moruya River of Art Incorporated 2011 is seeking artists to participate in two separate workshops titled Oral History Through Art as part of the Moruya River of Art Celebrations.
The workshops are partly funded by Regional Arts Australia and offer an opportunity for artists to develop and implement their own art style. The theme of the workshops is 'Moruya River – Past, Present and Future'.
The two workshops will be conducted by local Indigenous artist, teacher and storyteller Loretta Parsley. Loretta comes with the experience of valuing different learning styles, a qualified teacher of over 30 years experience and traditional concepts of Aboriginal culture and heritage.
The workshops will be held at the Moruya RSL Hall on Thursday 31st March and Thursday 7th April 2011 between 10am – 3pm. The workshops would like to invite 25 participating artists and 15 persons who would like to observe the teaching/learning process. The cost of the workshop is $10 per session.
Participants are required to bring their own lunch, a canvas, (small, medium or large, NO larger than 1 metre x 1 metre), an easel if possible and some paints. However there will be paints and brushes provided on the day.
If you would like to participate in the workshops you will need to book by phoning Loretta Parsley on 4478 6068. Places are limited so book asap.
Upon the completion of the artworks artists are invited to exhibit their works during The River of Art Celebrations at the Moruya Mechanics Institute from 21st May – 28th May 2011.
