Sea Kayaking the Whales with Region X

Broulee Island from Mossy Point Whales Ahoy ! Breakfast with The Whales

26th August 2010

Headed out from Mossy Point this morning, with a small group in double sea kayaks.

Staying close to the cliffs to get some protection from the westerly winds, our group was excited to see Sooty Oystercatchers, Gannetts and a Sea Eagle and Dolphins around Camel Rock.

Then we sighted our first Southern Right, alone, lazing on the surface, then another 2 further south along Broulee Beach and more closer to Broulee Island in a frenzied display of slapping, rolling and breaching.

We then tucked into a bay and scrambled onto the rock shelf for Coffee and Muffins and were treated with a display just 10 metres from where we were sitting, for half an hour.

Magic day again, ... very happy paddlers.

Love it !
